Want To Go To The Big Game? Hop In ACheapSeat

I’ve bought tickets to games before in many different ways – walking up to the box office, showing up hours early and waiting in line, and in advance.

For me, I’ve mostly sold tickets online, not bought them. Quite frankly, most sites online charge too much over face value for me to have any interest in paying.

That said, I stumbled across ACheapSeat.com and found some great ticket prices. Trying to get in to a New England Patriots game at an affordable price? The Pats are the hottest ticket in Boston, and they got Gillette Stadium Tickets.

NBA fan in Los Angeles? Catch the Clips or the Lake Show with Staples Center Tickets.

NHL fan in the NYC? For those Long Islanders who root for the “home team,” this site has Nassau Coliseum Tickets also.

Gotta love a site like this stickin it to the vendors like StubHub that charge you waay too much to get in on the game.

More Fantasy Poker Thoughts…

The last time I brought up the idea of fantasy poker, I said I’d take Phil Ivey in the first round of a fantasy WSOP draft.

Since then, I’ve had a change of heart. If I had to draft today, I’d take a gamble on my man Jared Davis, a 30-year old poker playin machine out of the Philadelphia area.

I’m not much of a poker player myself, either online or in the casino… I once played a game of hold’em and did awful, then went all in on a straight flush and lost to a royal… kinda killed my interest in poker.

Playing online seems to be more of a gamble because you never know who you’re playing against. In one online poker room you could go up against my man Jared and Ivey… and not even know it. Thank god there are sites like PokerFish.com, where you can read poker site reviews before you hop on a site to play.

Since I am so awful at poker, chances are good you won’t find me in any of the sites they have listed as best poker sites. With PokerFish’s list of Party Poker Codes, you might find me at Party Poker trying to get a deal, however.

I don’t know about you, but if I’m going to lose money, I might as well save as much as I can while doing it. It’s unethical to let a fool keep his money.

Get Your LCS Gear At Sports Nut Shop

Last night, the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays won their games and made the American League Championship Series.

Personally, I’m hoping for a Red Sox – Dodgers World Series, even though I live in the heart of Phillies country and would love to see my main man Ryan Howard play for a world championship.

If you’re looking to add some fall weather team gear to your wardrobe as the Sawks, Rays, Phils, and Dodgers battle it out to play in the Series, check out the great selection of MLB Apparel at Sports Nut Shop. They don’t seem to have any gear for Rays fans… but you guys play in Tampa Bay, so the weather shouldn’t be too much of a factor in your clothing decisions. Ditto for Dodgers fans.

But, if you live in Philly or Boston, the weather is going to be getting cold. For example, this morning in South Central PA – there was frost on the ground! It’s October 7… bet they don’t have that in LA.

Because of the way the temps drop at night here in the East during the fall, I’m guessing there are going to be a lot of Phillies fans and Red Sox fans looking for some long sleeve wear to throw on during the upcoming classic October fall ball.

Get some Red Sox Merchandise and Phillies Merchandise at Sports Nut Shop today.

What The Orioles Got In The Bedard Trade

Erik Bedard finally traded to SeattleSo, it took a few weeks, but the Baltimore Orioles and Seattle Mariners finally took care of the exchange for starting pitcher Erik Bedard.

As we stated in a previous post, the M’s are getting a phenomenal starting pitcher who probably becomes an immediate top-5 fantasy pitcher in 2008.

My opinion of Adam Jones – at this point in his career – as an AL-only option in deep leagues, also remains unchanged. See the previous post for my analysis of Adam Jones.

George Sherrill is the only other player that should have a fantasy baseball impact in 2008. The remaining three pitching prospects that go to Baltimore in the trade – Chris Tillman, Tony Butler, and Kam Mickollo – will likely not see the majors until later this season (at the earliest).

Sherrill is an intriguing player because of his potential to be the closer for Baltimore this season. Last year’s closer in B-more, Chris Ray, had Tommy John surgery during the off-season, so 2008 is out of the question for him. Sherrill was one of the top lefty relievers in the game in 2007. He struck out 56 batters in only 45 innings in ‘07, had an ERA of 2.36, and a WHIP just below 1.00.

While he’s not an early round draft selection as a closer, Sherrill could warrant some consideration in the later rounds as a 2008 sleeper pick. If your league includes the K/9 (strikeouts per 9 innings average) category, then taking Sherrill in the late rounds would be a good idea. Otherwise, keep Sherrill in mind as an insurance closer late in the draft.

George Sherrill might not lead you to the fantasy baseball championship in 2008, but he could certainly be an asset to your success – likely more of a key to success in 2008 than Adam Jones, or the other prospects Baltimore received in trade.

Find Fantasy Baseball Dugout on YardBarker

In their second major move of the week, BatBoy BeeZee and Fantasy Baseball Dugout can now be found on the popular sports blogging site, YardBarker.

We’re still trying to figure out why FBD is logged under a New York Yankees RSS feed… give us some time on that one. Anyway, YB is a great site where both players and bloggers can blog about the world of sports. And when I say “the world of sports,” I mean, “the world of sports.” They even have COLLEGE ROWING on there!
